The Poetry and Thoughts of Jane Carol
Just a Seat
It’s just a seat they said....
Where we had dreamed our dreams
Where friends had shared moments
Never to be forgotten.
It’s just a seat they said....
Yet tiny limbs had climbed
And sat....cold drinks in grubby hands
And laughed at things we could never understand.
It’s just a seat they said....
That comforted us in solemn moments,
Visited by birds and butterflies
That bring a faint smile to the glistening eye.
It’s just a seat they said....
Surrounded by the touch and smell
Of all that please the heart and mind,
By silent pond where lilies float and fleeting dragonfly.
It’s just a seat they said....
Yet human hand made safe arbour of these slats and boards,
A haven of peace, wrapped round
By natures arms, soothed by her fragrances.
It’s just a seat we said....
Yet when it’s shared with loved ones
And dearest friends—where pets can safely lie,
Then there’s no finer seat in all the land,
Nor better place to be beneath the sky.
